How to exercise to reduce depression

*Aerobic exercise was especially helpful. However, light resistance exercise also helped. Combine both for best effects. Also include stretching as a cooldown activity to enhance the effects of aerobics & strengthening.

*Try exercising daily. Even on easy days, take a walk outdoors.

*Exercise that is repetitive, like walking or biking, may indirectly encourage ,meditation. This meditation may be a key to exercise's positive effects so while exercising, think positive thoughts, imagine positive images.

*While even a little exercise helped, more exercise, helped more. Increase intensity & duration but do so gradually.

*Make sessions last 30 minutes or longer for best effects.
