Abdominal exercise for women

The core includes muscles, ligaments, tendons, bones & general structure in the center of your body. That includes the abdomen, hips, lower back and pelvis.

It is an extremely important section of the body as it supports your spine and keeps your body stable. It is also somewhat neglected because it’s not usually on display. Also, many amateur and weekend athletes simply don’t account for how important a strong, flexible core is for preventing injury and enhancing performance.

The pages from the links above suggest that core exercise equipment is not always necessary, which is, I guess, a good thing. Certainly, many bodyweight movements work the core structure quite well. Click here to visit our helpful page on bodyweight exercises

However, certain pieces of core exercise equipment can offer refreshing variety to workouts and can work core structure in ways that bodyweight exercises cannot.

We judge the best exercise equipment to be light, compact, inexpensive and effective. Of course you might be using the equipment at the gym. But, if purchasing, the products cited are not very expensive.

There are other pieces of equipment for core exercise that are good but a bit pricey like the Pilates trainers. Consider them if you have the space and budget.

Best core exercise equipment

* A very good, compact, light, inexpensive piece of equipment, the Bosu ball or trainer can be used for many movements that train the entire middle: the front, the back and the sides. It looks like a small exercise ball that has been sliced in half.

* If you want the whole ball, an exercise ball (stability or balance ball) may be just right for you. It may be the best piece of exercise equipment for the core.

My experiences with balance ball exercises have always been fun and different. Next day, I feel sore in places that aren’t often worked on.

* Here’s a a neat and different piece of exercise equipment, the foam roller. It is just what it says, a thick foam pole that can be used in many creative ways to condition most muscles, especially core muscles.

It can really help you improve balance, flexibility and strength. It is often used for rehabbing injuries but can also be used to build strength.

Use of a foam roller may require a fairly high level of fitness so it may not be appropriate for beginners. I’ve heard some very fit people relate what a tough workout the foam roller provided.

* Remember those old fitness clips featuring roly poly people doing stuff with a basketball sized leathery ball, medicine balls.

But now, medicine balls can be used to put fun back into your workout. They can help build stamina, coordination and strength. You can bounce them, throw them, catch them, all the while building functional, real world fitness.

* For a strong core, you will also need to strengthen and condition your lower back That’s where rowing equipment comes in.

Basically, the best exercise equipment for the core allows you to perform a movement best described as pulling a weight of some sort to your body. Any movement in which you are pulling towards you should work your back If you pull a weight towards the middle of your body, the lower back muscles will do most of the work.

Many pieces of equipment can be used for the rowing movement. Bend over and pull weights to your hips, use back machines, adapt exercise bands to mimic expensive back machines, get chin or pull-up bar and the resistance becomes your own bodyweight.

* Finally, a msut piece of core exercise equipment is the humble exercise mat for all kinds of movements and for programs such as yoga or Pilates.
