Exercising in a chair or with a chair is, well, just that.
You exercise while seated or otherwise use a chair to support your efforts.
The benefits of exercising in/about a chair are many & chair exercises are especially useful for certain people & situations.
Benefits of chair based exercises
* Chair exercises are a great form of exercise for older adults who are not able to always engage in complete strenuous movements.* Benefits to exercising in a chair are especially evident for people with temporary or permanent disabilities. Especially, so for persons with limited range of motion, or people suffering from back problems People with poor balance or for anyone who has trouble standing or getting onto the floor to exercise are natural candidates for chair exercising. Chair exercises are very valuable to office workers with limited space to workout. Yes, an office workout while on break or lunch can supplement regular workouts save you time. The main types of exercises that can be done at the workplace are mainly flexibility exercises & to a lesser extent, strength routines. Aerobic workouts are probably best done outside of the workplace. Even fit people could benefit from convenient exercises with a chair. Such exercises are not necessarily easier. They are simply modifications of more familiar exercises.

The benefits of chair based exercises also mimic benefits of exercise in general.
* The activities will help you build strength, maintain or increase bone density, improve balance & coordination
* Strength training with a chair can also help arthritis sufferers
* Diabetics see improved blood sugar readings when involved in an exercise program
There are many exercise programs which incorporate a chair within the routine. For example, there are yoga workouts that use a chair. Pick up a book or video on the topic at any good bookstore or fitness department.
Despite the fact that chair exercise may be safer & gentler than their cousins, it’s still wise to talk to your doctor before beginning a new exercise program.
