Link between walking calories, surface & bodyweight
Want to know calories burned while walking? Below is a chart on this particular question of the relationship between burned calories and exercise.
Basically, the relationship between walking & calories burned depends on 4 factors:
1) Surface you are walking on, including slope
2) Walking speed
3) Your weight
4) Duration
Figuring out calories burned walking
Below is a chart showing expenditure of walking calories when considering surface to speed & duration of walk. For ease, we will assume the walk lasts one hour.
After figuring out the calories expended walking we will include your weight as a final, specific factor on burned calories during exercise walking.

How your weight affects walking calories
If your around 150 lbs, (68 kg) the relationship between burned calories & walking is roughly what the above chart shows.
However, if your weight is at least 15 lbs (6.8 kg) above or below 150 the amount of calories burned per hour of walking changes as follows:
For each increase of 15 lbs over 150, add another 10% of calories burned to total above.
For each decrease of 15 lbs under 150, decrease another 10% of calories burned to total above.
Example
You weigh 165 lbs & walked for one hour on snow at 3 mph.
The chart above pegs your calories burned at 900.
But since you weigh one increment of 15 lbs over 150 lbs, you would add another 10% of the 900 calories expended to total.
So, 10% of 900 = 90.
Add 90 to 900 to give you a total calorie expenditure of 990.
