The number of calories that you can burn during an activity depends on many factors including age, body structure, heredity and lifestyle. The following list shows the amount of calories burned for certain activities for most people.

For example, doing squats with heavy weights may not burn many calories during the activity but your body would burn lots of calories over the next 24 hours repairing and adapting.

Walking might burn a good many calories over a half hour but there would be little after effect. However, if you are very overweight, then a simple walk may actually produce considerable after effect.
