Best time to exercise
So, when’s the best time to exercise? Well, it depends on what your goals are. Also depends on what kind of a person you are. Right below, what the research says on best exercise time.
Morning exercise time
Studies point to particular benefits to exercising in the morning.• Raises your heart rate and metabolism so more calories are burned earlier in the day • Improves energy level for hours. • Improves your mental acuity for several hours. • Especially, when done before breakfast, more fat calories are burned since there are few carb calories circulating at that time. • Air pollution levels are lowest in the morning. This may even boost workouts as you feel better oxygenated. Studies also point to negatives of morning workouts. • Often wake up feeling much colder than you felt just 8 hours before. That’s because body temperature is quite low in the morning. This makes the morning a time of relatively low blood flow and low energy. • Muscles are cold and stiff, making them more prone to injury. A gentle, though thorough warm up before more difficult exercises, should help out here. • Morning workouts may feel so difficult that they will turn you off to exercise. My personal inclination is to exercise in the morning when I feel like exercising then. Depends on whether I feel strong and alert. I may do a morning workout 1 - 2 days a week. Generally, I think that light aerobic activity is best for morning workouts, followed by stretching. So, nice morning walk would qualify. I’d rather do interval workouts and strength training later on when I feel stronger and looser. Click for pros & cons of noon exercise (coming soon)
