Antiaging exercise
Frank information on antiaging exercise follows, with recommendations on which exercises qualify as antiaging.
“Antiaging” is essentially a misnomer. It can’t really be accomplished. The idea of “turning back the clock” has more in common with the fountain of youth than it does with reality. However, exercise can extend your life. It can add years to your life. Even better, it can add life to your years. Look, life eventually leads to old age, then to death, and that’s if you’re lucky. What lifestyle, especially exercise, really determines is the speed at which age related decline occurs and how long we can be active and vital. Life expectancy is not up With all the research and medical breakthroughs, the fact is that life expectancy has not really gone up significantly for most of us. Charts that show life expectancy to have improved dramatically are factoring in the huge declines in infant mortality and mortal infectious diseases. But, again, if you survive infancy and stay clear of deadly infections, your life expectancy is roughly the same as someone born 200 years ago. Why the stagnation in longevity? My guess is that the decreased role of physical activity has played a big role. Studies on whether so called antiaging exercises work have come up with a consistent general finding. Generally, every hour of exercise you undertake adds the same amount of time to your life. So, if you exercise an hour a day for 20 years, you’ll spend about 7,280 hours exercising. Divide that number by 24 (hours per day) and you get a little over 300 days, almost a year that your life will be extended. So, that’s a part of the rewards of exercising. Even more importantly, you should enjoy your time spent in recreation and sports and you should feel and be more vital until, well, you know. But you may wonder, what can exercise change even as you age? Could it alter cholesterol readings? Improve strength? Improve skin texture. Delay graying of hair?
