Red wine, that's what.

Beer has one celebrated antioxidant, ferulic acid, but red wine contains the incomparably salubrious resveratrol, which battles cardiac disease & Alzheimer's. Pass the wine.

5) Want to slim down with grains? Eat barley.
Barley grain is good for you. Beginning with a helping of barley for breakfast will reduce the sugar spikes for the rest of the day which also helps keep off the pounds. The reason for that is the soluble stuff we call fiber which acts as a glucose depressor. Diabetics will particularly gain from barley.
